About Us

Founded in 1954, Troop 383 has a proud tradition of preparing young men for lives of leadership, service, and adventure. Chartered by Red-C Radio, a local Catholic radio station, our troop is based at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas, where we meet every Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 PM—year-round.

Our troop draws Scouts from across the Brazos Valley, including Brazos, Burleson, Robertson, and Grimes counties. We are an active, engaged unit with a strong outdoor program that includes monthly campouts, an annual summer camp, and biennial treks to BSA High Adventure Bases such as Philmont Scout Ranch.

Troop 383 proudly upholds the "boy-led" model, where youth leadership is at the heart of our program. Our older Scouts mentor and guide younger members, fostering growth, confidence, and responsibility. Scouts are encouraged to attend National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), participate in service opportunities, and be active members of the Order of the Arrow—Scouting's National Honor Society.

Our adult leadership team brings a wealth of experience and commitment, with all leaders fully trained in BSA programs. Among our dedicated volunteers are high-ranking military officers, elected county officials, healthcare professionals, business owners, and numerous Eagle Scouts—all united in their support of youth development through Scouting.

At Troop 383, we are more than a troop—we are a family, a tradition, and a launchpad for future leaders.
